How to configure Organization and retail store schema

Written by Abhishek

The organization schema tells search engines and AI assistants who's behind your store: business name, logo, contact information, social profiles, and physical locations. InstaIndex publishes it on every storefront page.

Configure it under Schema markup → Organization. If you haven't run the guided setup yet, start with How to set up schema markup with InstaIndex — it suggests values for most of the fields below.

Business identity

  • Name — your business or brand name as you want it to appear in search and AI results.

  • URL — your storefront homepage (full URL including https://).

  • Description — a one- or two-sentence description of what your store sells and who it serves. Write it the way you'd describe your store to a new customer; avoid keyword stuffing.

Logo

Upload a logo that's representative of your business. Google uses this image in search results and knowledge panels.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 112×112 pixels.

  • Crawlable and indexable (don't host it behind a login or robots.txt block).

  • Looks correct on a white background — a square or near-square image with transparent or light backgrounds works best.

Social links

Add links to your business profiles on social media and review sites. These help search engines and AI assistants link your store to the same entity across the web.

Common profiles to add: X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, Wikipedia, Trustpilot, Google Business Profile, Yelp.

Use the full URL of each profile (for example, https://www.instagram.com/yourstore). Skip any profile you don't actively maintain.

Contact details

  • Email — the best email address for customer contact.

  • Phone — include the country code (for example, +1-888-000-0000).

Address

The physical or mailing address of your organization. City and country are enough, but more detail helps with local search.

Fields: Street address, City, Region (state/province), Postal code, Country.

Retail stores

If you have physical store locations, add each one here. They're published as Store entries under the hasPOS property of your Organization schema.

For each store:

  • Name (required) — the store's display name (for example, "Dave's Department Store — Brooklyn").

  • Image URLs — one per line. We recommend multiple high-resolution images at 16:9, 4:3, and 1:1 aspect ratios; minimum 50,000 pixels (width × height).

  • URL — the public page for this specific location, if you have one.

  • Phone — include the country code.

  • Price range — a numerical range ($10–$15) or normalized currency signs ($$$).

  • Opening hours — add one row per group of days that share the same hours. Use 24-hour time (HH:MM). For 24/7, set opens to 00:00 and closes to 23:59.

  • Address — Street address, City (required), Region, Postal code, Country (required).

  • Geo coordinates — Latitude and Longitude. Copy these from Google Maps by right-clicking your location.

How InstaIndex outputs this on your storefront

  • The Organization is published as an OnlineStore (a subtype of Organization) with the standard Organization fields (logo, social links, contact, address).

  • Each retail store is published as a Store and attached to the Organization through hasPOS, including images, geo coordinates, opening hours, and address.

  • These objects appear on every storefront page so business identity is consistent across your site.

Validate your changes

After saving, paste your homepage URL into Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator and confirm Organization (and hasPOS if you added retail stores) is detected correctly.
