InstaIndex automatically notifies search engines of changes to your Shopify store, so manual submission is rarely needed. However, there are specific situations where it can be useful. Manual submission is best used for edge cases where automatic submissions are unavailable or limited. When used correctly, it helps ensure important updates are communicated to search engines while InstaIndex continues to handle ongoing changes automatically.
When to use manual submission
You may want to use manual submission if:
You’re on a legacy plan that doesn’t support automatic submissions for blog posts or pages
You’ve reached your monthly automatic submission limit and need to submit critical updates
You prefer manual control and have disabled automatic submissions
You made significant changes shortly before installing InstaIndex, such as importing products in bulk
In these cases, submit URLs shortly after making changes to align with IndexNow best practices.
How to use manual submission
You can manually submit up to 10,000 URLs at once.
Submit a single item
Open the product, collection, blog post, or page in Shopify admin
Click More actions
Select Submit to IndexNow
Submit multiple items
Go to Products or Collections in Shopify admin
Select up to 50 items at a time
Click Actions → Submit to IndexNow
Important Notes
Avoid submitting unchanged URLs, as this may be considered misuse of the IndexNow protocol
Use your sitemap for existing content that hasn’t changed recently
Manual submission is not a replacement for automatic submissions and should be used only when necessary
