What does AI visibility tracking do?
AI visibility tracking monitors how leading AI models — like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, and Grok — mention, position, and recommend your brand. You add the prompts your customers are likely to ask, and we run them against each model on a regular schedule.
Each result is analyzed for brand mentions, sentiment, competitor references, and cited URLs. Over time, you get a clear picture of how your brand appears in AI-generated answers and where there's room to improve.
How often are prompts executed?
When you create a prompt, it is first executed at the next midnight (UTC). After that, it runs every 7 days automatically. Each execution queries every AI model you've selected for a prompt, so a single prompt with five models generates five results per run.
What kind of prompts should I add?
Add prompts that your customers would realistically ask an AI assistant when shopping for your type of product. Think about the questions that lead to a purchase decision:
Product discovery — "What are the best running shoes for beginners?" or "Top organic skincare brands."
Comparisons — "How does [your brand] compare to [competitor]?" or "Best alternatives to [competitor]."
Recommendations — "Where should I buy [product type] online?" or "What's the most recommended [product]?"
Avoid overly specific internal queries. The goal is to track the prompts that real shoppers use when turning to AI for advice.
How can I improve my AI visibility?
AI models choose which brands to mention based on authority, relevance, and content quality. Here are practical steps to improve how often AI recommends your brand:
Don't block AI crawlers — Make sure your robots.txt doesn't block bots like GPTBot, Google-Extended, or Claude-Web. If AI systems can't access your content, they can't recommend you.
Use structured data — Add schema markup (Organization, Product, Article) so AI models can understand your brand, products, and content.
Publish helpful, authoritative content — Write blog posts and guides that directly answer the questions your customers ask. Use clear headings, specific facts, and concrete examples that AI can easily extract and cite.
Keep content fresh — AI models tend to favor recent content. Regularly update your key pages with current information, new product details, and up-to-date statistics.
Build brand authority — Get mentioned on reputable sites, earn backlinks, and collect reviews. AI models use these signals to decide which brands are trustworthy enough to recommend.
What is share of voice?
Share of voice is the percentage of AI responses that mention your brand across all tracked prompts. For example, if you have 10 prompts and your brand is mentioned in 7 out of 10 responses, your share of voice is 70%. This is the primary metric for measuring your overall AI visibility.
What is prominence?
Prominence measures how central your brand is to an AI response, scored on a 1–10 scale. A score of 10 means your brand is the main topic of the response. A score of 1 means your brand was only mentioned in passing. High prominence is more valuable than being simply mentioned because it means the AI is actively discussing your brand, not just listing it.
What does the sentiment metric tell me?
Sentiment shows the tone of how AI models discuss your brand — positive, neutral, negative, or mixed. On the dashboard, sentiment is displayed as the percentage of positive mentions. If you see negative sentiment, check the full AI responses on the prompt detail page to understand what's being said. Negative sentiment might stem from outdated information, poor reviews, or pricing concerns in the AI's training data.
What is the citation rate?
Citation rate is the percentage of AI responses that include a direct link to your store's URL. Being mentioned is good, but being cited with a URL is better — it means the AI is actively directing users to your store.
What is mention context?
Mention context describes how your brand is positioned in the AI response:
Recommendation — The AI is actively suggesting your brand.
Comparison — Your brand is compared alongside others.
Alternative — Your brand is presented as an alternative to another.
Warning — The AI mentions your brand in a cautionary context.
Neutral — A factual or informational reference.
The ideal context is recommendation. If you're mostly showing up in comparisons or as an alternative, you may be seen as a secondary choice.
What are "new competitors" in reports?
The new competitors report shows brands that AI models mentioned in their responses but aren't in your tracked competitor list. These are brands the AI considers relevant to your product category that you may not have thought to track. You can add them to your competitor list directly from the report to start tracking their metrics alongside yours.
Can I use AI visibility on the Basic plan?
No. AI visibility is available on Premium and Business plans (and legacy Pro, Plus, and Enterprise plans). If you're on a Basic plan, you'll see an upgrade banner when navigating to the AI visibility section.
